- As you may know, once tree roots enter your sewer line they become an ongoing problem you can do with out. The tree roots grow; cause a blockage and you call the Plumber to water jet or electric eel your sewer line. This will clear some or all of the roots, depending on the technique used and the quality of the workmanship, however like pruning a tree, the very action of clearing the sewer promotes the regrowth of the roots, but this time thicker and more aggressive just like those hedges people work so hard on to thicken up. The cycle of cut, regrow and cut begins and soon you are caught up in a costly sewer trap. Each time you have your sewer cleared, the period of time before the sewer blocks again is lessened, even worse the roots you cut remain in the pipe wall and with each sewer clearance the roots get thicker, further cracking the pipes open allowing more roots into the pipe and allowing raw sewerage to enter our waterways..
- Vaporooter® is used by hundreds of Sewer Authorities in Australia and around the world to control sewer root growth. Vaporooter is a combination of herbicides that are placed as foam in your sewer line for the purpose of eliminating tree roots and preventing further destruction of sewer pipes caused by live tree roots. Only tree roots within the pipe and a short distance outside the pipe are affected. Trees and shrubs above the pipe are not affected.
- Maintenance Program.
- We recommend that Vaporooter be applied to your sewer 6-8 weeks after your sewer lines have been water jetted or electric eeled, to allow the tree roots to regrow enough to effectively treat the offending roots. Further treatment should be scheduled annually for the most cost effective control. This will eliminate any further need to water jet or electric eel your sewer line and guarantee that your sewer will not re block due to live tree root growth!

Longbeach Plumbing will clear the blockage and camera the drain if required, to determine the cause of the blockage. If the blockage is caused by live tree roots we will retreat the line. The call out, blockage clearance and the re treatment will be free of charge. If the blockage is caused by any other type of obstruction such as toilet fresheners, sanitary products, children’s toys or flat, collapsed or deformed pipes the normal charges for call out and blockage clearance will apply.
